RefTec A3 Refrigerant Recovery Unit First Look

Welcome to one of RefTec's latest projects straight out of the paint booth. The RefTec A3 Portable Refrigerant Recovery Unit. This unit was designed to recover flammable A3 refrigerants which typically consist of hydrocarbons e.g. R290 (propane), R1270 (propylene), R600 (butane), R600a (isobutane). 

A3 refrigerants have higher flammability. This means even weak sparks need to be avoided. Examples of sparks to be avoided during work:

Sparks from clothing. 

Sparks due to bad electrical grounding. 

Sparks from iron screw drivers.

High awareness of safety is needed!!! A3 trained personal only!!!

No ignition source within 3 m of work area. 

Warning sign. 

Good ventilation. 

Avoid any leaks. 

Avoid potential pooling of refrigerant. 

Electric tools need to have A3 approval (typically ATEX Zone 2 approval). 

Always use a personal leakage detector.

An Environmentally Friendly Electrochemical Refrigerant Compressor

The development is  published  in  Renewable Energy . In contrast to conventional refrigerants containing HFCs (hydrofluorocarbons) that destroy the  ozone layer  and cause global warming, environmentally friendly refrigerants (ammonia, R1234yf, etc.) have very small environmental impacts.
